Humble yet significant

We are thrilled to announce AYB Advanced Studio fall semester will be supported in part by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) through the Brooklyn Arts Fund.

Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign to help us reach our ultimate funding needs for the semester! With the Brooklyn Arts Fund as a base, and the generosity of our community, we can surely reach our goal.

Read Between the Lines is an exhibition of watercolor paintings inspired by the work of ART YARD BKLYN (AYB) co-founder and director Meridith McNeal, presented as part of AYB’s Year of Literacy. Paintings by AYB Artists of all ages depict humble yet significant objects in still life tableaux, exploring treatments of text in naturalistic painting. On view at The Gallery at 180 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn, NY from September 20 to November 15, 2024.

This week Elizabeth, Adji, Liv, Leni, Diana and Simone all finished up pieces for the exhibition.

AYB Artist Delphine Levenson continues to impress with her latest series of drawings. Elizabeth and I looked at images of this work and marveled -- so snaky, silky, and sinewy!

Reg exclaims: “Wow!!! She’s creating uncharted landscapes! It has a quality and visual richness that I would call visionary; I do hope Delphine will (or does) craft narratives to complement her work (even if it’s merely in title). Either way, her work is impressive.”

Ed writes. “Impressive. She's in a league of her own.”

Liv pipes in: “Delphine is so talented!”

AYB Artist Molly Willis shares: “I am visiting my grandpa in a few weeks and he has trouble remembering everyone in our family so I started drawing family to turn into a painting to give to him!”
